Equipments mounted on satellites are destined to experience random vibration at the time of launch; predicting the vibration level will contribute to cost-effective equipment design. JANET, employing SEA (Statistical Energy Analysis) method, is an effective design support system especially in the initial design phase. JANET enables us to predict the random vibration level more accurately than the current empirical prediction method for saving design modification and test process (Fig.1).

We have verified the prediction error by thousands of acceleration data from test results of historical satellites, and incorporated prediction margins into JANET, which statistically gave JANET conservative envelopes (P95/50 and P99/90) *(Fig.2). JANET, available through Web browser, consists of prediction tool and database that accumulates the structural parameters of satellite design. * P95/50means the value by which 95% of population is covered at the probability of 50%. P99/90 means the value by which 99% of population is covered at the probability of 90%.
